What You'll Be Doing

The Chief Mechanic is responsible for the efficient operation/maintenance of the hospital’s facility function, including building maintenance, HVAC, minor plumbing jobs and minor electric, emergency generator operation, and associated auxiliary equipment (pumps, motors, lighting, etc).  The successful candidate will also manage a diversified workforce that performs operation and maintenance of the hospital.

 

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Manage building trade related equipment such as, HVAC, hot and cold-water related issues and building systems, including trouble shooting, and preventative maintenance scheduling
  • Maintains an efficient environment by checking for leaks and power related issues and performing fire pump testing and safety testing.
  • Maintain log and records associated with construction projects
  • Replace defective lighting equipment, ceiling tile management and tool inventory
  • Monitor and maintain heating systems to ensure they are operating safely and properly; perform scheduled filter changes throughout the facility.
  • Perform frequent strenuous physical activity including heavy lifting, extensive carrying.
  • Air Conditioning, and minor steam related jobs.
  • Assist with schedule shift coverage from time to time, if needed.
  • Be a part of the hospital projects as they relate to mechanical and scheduling manpower.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years in trade required, hospital environment preferred
  • Active and valid NJ driver's license
  • Willingness to travel to all CarePoint facilities in Bayonne, Hoboken, Jersey City, including associated Physician offices
  • Communicate effectively both orally and written
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent mechanical skills
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and processes
