What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary
The Multi-Modality Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures in both Computed Tomography (CT) and general radiography (X-ray) to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions. This role requires the independent operation of imaging equipment, adherence to strict safety protocols, and the provision of high-quality, compassionate patient care across all age groups.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform high-quality CT and X-ray examinations in accordance with established clinical protocols and physician orders.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, obtaining relevant clinical history, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the examination.
  • Position patients and select appropriate imaging sequences and technical parameters to ensure optimal image quality and minimal radiation exposure (ALARA principles).
  • Prepare and safely administer contrast media when required, which includes performing venipuncture and monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and accuracy, documenting all required patient information and image annotations in the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions to senior staff or service engineers to ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and staff, ensuring compliance with all hospital, state, federal, and regulatory body (e.g., The Joint Commission, ACR) standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care and optimize imaging protocols.
  • Assist with quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities, maintaining accurate records and logs as required by department policy.
  • May assist in the orientation and training of new employees or students.

What We're Looking For

Multi X-Ray CT technologist M-f 7a-3:30p, every other weekend 7a-3:30p/OR proficiency preferred

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA-approved school (Associate's degree is common).

 

  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) is required.
    • ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) is strongly preferred or required within a specified timeframe of hire. (1-Year from date of hire to apply for certification)
    • Current state licensure to practice radiologic technology, if applicable.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, generally through the American Heart Association.

 

  • Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or clinical setting across both modalities is often preferred.

 

  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of CT and X-ray equipment operation and safety protocols (including radiation safety).
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and make independent decisions.
    • Proficiency in using hospital information systems, EMR, PACS, and RIS.
    • Physical stamina and strength to stand for long periods, move heavy equipment, and assist with patient positioning and transfer.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to ensure image accuracy.
