What You'll Be Doing

The successful candidate will be able to:

 

  • Maintain and verify financial, statistical, or other fiscal records in connection with various county, state, and federal grants.
  • Clarify and resolve technical and contractual issues and problems with grants, and guides department staff on grant regulations and use of grant funding.
  • Perform specialized grant accounting functions; complies with periodic financial reporting and reimbursement submittal requirements.
  • Correspond with representatives from county, state and federal agencies regarding matters involving grant status, funding, reporting and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively, professionally, and cooperatively both verbally and in writing.
  • Prepare budget expense projections; monitors and reports on budget versus actual expenses; and processes requests for budget adjustments.
  • Review monthly general ledger reports and makes appropriate reclasses.
  • Review payroll reports and vendor invoices for accuracy and makes any necessary reclasses.
  • Maintain the finance calendar to track key dates, including program report and invoicing deadlines.
  • Monitor/track the status of each program through its program life cycle.
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures (Related to Grants)
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related subject
  • 5 years of work experience in relevant/similar industry
  • Experience with budgets • Experience with accounting principals
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting principals
  • Detail oriented
  • Direct experience with grants and programming
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
