What You'll Be Doing

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Grants and Accounting Manager to join our team in the not-for-profit healthcare space.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Not-for-Profit and Grants Accounting. Hospital / healthcare accounting experience would be a plus with experience in collaborating with teams and requiring less supervision. As our Grants and Accounting Manager, you will be primarily responsible for handling all aspects of accounting operations, grants, and budget accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grants, contracts and regulatory requirements of CarePoint Health Systems, Inc. This position reports to the Sr. VP of Finance and will assist with the development of internal control policies, grant accounting policies, grant financial reporting and compliance policies and procedures.

 

  • Primary responsible of the not for profit’s G/L and TB.
  • Primarily responsible for the preparation of grants budgets, expense projections, monitors and reports on budget versus actual expenses, and processes requests for budget adjustments and modifications.
  • Preparation and analytical review of the financial statements.
  • Maintains and verifies financial, statistical, or other fiscal records in connection with various county, state and federal grants including private foundation grants.
  • Clarifies and resolves technical and contractual issues and problems with grants, and guides department staff or program leaders on grant regulations and use of grant funding in accordance with grant contracts and compliance requirements.
  • Performs specialized grants accounting functions, restricted grants including contributions accounting of with/without donor restrictions.
  • Preparation and submission of periodic financial reporting and reimbursement submittal requirements of grants and other similar grants financial reports in accordance with grant contracts and compliance requirements.
  • In coordination with the Grants Administrator and the Sr. VP of Finance, corresponds with representatives from county, state, and federal agencies as well as private foundation grants regarding matters involving grant status, funding, reporting and compliance requirements. Communicates effectively, professionally, and cooperatively both verbally and in writing.
  • Reviews monthly general ledger/trial balance reports and makes appropriate reclasses. Reviews payroll reports and vendor invoices for accuracy and makes any necessary reclasses.
  • Ensures that all grant expenses and financial reporting and reimbursement have all the appropriate support in accordance with grant contracts and compliance requirements.
  • Completes analytical review and follow-up with Program Leaders regarding all material budget variances.
  • Coordination of all grant and compliance audits including but not limited to annual financial statement audit, Federal/State Single Audits and other program or grant audits. This encompasses timing of field work and responsibility to deliver complete audit reports timely.
  • Maintain compliance with timely filing of financial statements, Federal/State single audit, federal form 990, NJ CRI Form and other reporting requirements with NJ State Charities Bureau.
  • The ideal candidate will have a curiosity to learn about operations and existing process and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Other Special projects or assignment from time to time.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience required with grants accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills,
  • Sense of urgency and passion for learning and improving different processes.
  • Pleasant demeanor and able to advance ideas and improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Candidate must have a high attention to detail and be process oriented.
