What You'll Be Doing

The Nurse Practitioner (NP), under the general direction of the physician, will provide healthcare in a variety of clinical settings within their scope.

 

The successful candidate will / be able to:

 

  • Obtain a comprehensive health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assess presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing thorough physical examination
  • Order/perform appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and other screening tests, including seek other information as needed, and consult with physicians and other clinicians for the evaluation of illness as needed
  • Integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks
  • Develop and implement treatment plan including, but not limited to prescribe/dispense medications in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws
  • Instruct patient/family regarding medications and treatments
  • Educate patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention
  • Recommend appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs
  • Communicate appropriate information to other professionals and community agencies
  • Prepare documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written format or electronically
  • Collaborate with physicians in managing medical needs of patient
  • Ensure an appropriate discharge plan. Facilitates implementation of discharge plan and discharge teaching and updates discharge plan in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in accordance with patient’s clinical course and continuing needs to expedite post discharge care
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Nursing required
  • At least 2 year’s of experience practicing as an NP; previous experience in Acute Care Emergency Department or Urgent Care experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • Valid NJ Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses required
  • Maintain all appropriate approvals to prescribe and dispense drugs under applicable New Jersey State and federal law (CDS DEA license)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Courteous and compassion bedside manner
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus!
