What You'll Be Doing

Determines the extent to which patients' insurance covers their treatments. Reviews appropriateness of CPT-4/ICD-10 coding and determines if care provided corresponds to the charges submitted. Ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations and company policies that govern Medicare and state payment systems. May assist in identifying fraudulent non-plan billing practices and assists the legal department with litigation preparation. 

 

The successful candidate will be able to

  • Abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records charts and documents
  • Assigns appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to documentation
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Serves as a resource to employees and responds to employee questions related to coding/billing
  • Knowledge of various specialties. OB a plus.
  • Meets regularly with Director Physician Billing to identify trends and work with physician and staff to reduce Denials.
  • Develops / updates and performs training related to coding/billing
  • Plan and schedule special projects as requested by Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • High School /Associates Degree
  • CPC – A /AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
  • Personal computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS
  • Strong analytical and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to maintain independence and objectivity,
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize and complete tasks within established time constraints.
  • Must have good planning and organizational skills
