What You'll Be Doing

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

 

A non-exempt position responsible for nursing care of obstetrical and gynecological patients in the medical office setting under the supervision of physicians and practice manager.

  • Responsible for management of obstetrical patients from the start of prenatal care (including confirmation of pregnancy) up to post-partum care. Includes reviewing of OB charts, identifying patient needs, following up of delinquent patients, OB patient education, scheduling, tracking of prenatal patient appointments, answers patients’ clinical questions, and assists with any issues presented by the patient. Ensures that all OB patients’ insurance information are up-to-date and maternity benefits are verified.
  • Obtains, verifies, and records health history of Ob/gyn patients. Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments, vital signs, and biological samples. Collects specimens for laboratory analysis with proper documentation.
  • Provides basic Ob/gyn patient care as ordered. Administers medications and treatments as directed. Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  • Document’s assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records.
  • Promotes wellness by providing Ob-/gyn patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions, informing Ob/gyn patients of test results and necessary follow-up visits, treatments, and therapies. Must be able to identify test results that need immediate follow-up and communicate these with the physician for prompt intervention.
  • Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, daily quality control monitoring; inventory control; disinfection and cleanliness of work area, patient safety.
  • Will work as part of the healthcare team to deliver excellent and professional prenatal and gynecological care to CHMG patients.

 

What We're Looking For

EDUCATION:

 

  • High school diploma. Graduation from an approved practical nursing program.
  • Minimum one year of LPN experience; clinic experience preferred.
  • State-licensed practical nurse.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Skilled in reading and following written and oral medical orders.
  • Skilled in initiating appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Skilled in handling several tasks simultaneously.
  • Skilled in performing blood draws.
  • Skilled in performing Fetal Non-Stress Test (NST)

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment. Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.
  • Ability to use manual dexterity to perform medical treatments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug dosages.
