What You'll Be Doing

The Environmental Services Aide provides cleaning and environmental infection control services hospital wide. This work is done under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment for all staff and visitors at CarePoint Health facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Follows established daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning schedule as outlined by supervisor.
  2. Demonstrates proper cleaning technique according to product recommendations in support of environmental infection control.
  3. Demonstrates proper use of equipment and supplies.
  4. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  5. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  6. Check nurses stations for spills or special needs
  7. Commence “policing “ of unit including am-policing room policing program 
  8. Check frequently at nurses station throughout the day for special needs or discharges
  9. Completes discharges quickly and efficiently immediately notifies IVR system when assignments are initiated and completed if no messages come through the bed tracking system housekeeping aide is to keep in touch with supervisor/EVS administrative assistant by hospital phone usage.
  10. Must notify supervisor/EVS administrative assistant of delays and cancellations immediately 
  11. Empty soiled linen and solid waste containers, if needed, and take material to centralized collection point for the area of the facility or large bags of soiled linen or solid waste, member should reduce the amount of material into enough bags to make the load safe for manual transport. 
  12. After am policing start to perform 10 step interactive cleaning throughout all assigned areas 
  13. Clean center core areas thoroughly 
  14. Transports fresh supply stock to floors as needed using hand trucks, dollies, etc. 
  15. Supplies, carts, equipment and janitorial closets Must be tidy and clean at all times 
  16. Restocks and cleans carts at end of shift with germicidal cleaner and stock with fresh product to ensure readiness for the next shift / day’s work
  17. Cleaning carts must be put away in supply closets when not in use 
  18. Daily basis Performs in-between case cleaning in the OR and case cleaning in Vascular/Cath lab and when requested case cleaning in the OR 
  19. Cleans all isolation rooms by following proper policy procedure and using proper isolation room cleaning precautions as dictated by Infection Control policy to include wall washing. 
  20. Responds to emergency activities such as code calls, disaster drills, fire drills and adheres to policy and procedures 
  21. At times will assist in training new hired / and existing employees 
  22. Performs other tasks as assigned

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • No experience required, although some Hospital experience preferred 
  • Works with initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of janitorial equipment and supplies.
