What You'll Be Doing

Directs development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services. Oversees the clinical program and coordinates individual pharmacists in performance of these duties.

 

Oversees the financial success of the established programs.

 

Facilitates the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways as approved by appropriate committees.

 

Facilitates the identification, resolution, implementation, and communication of cost-effective medication use issues in collaboration with the medical staff.

 

Supports the pharmacy’s economic efforts.

 

Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.

 

Conduct educational programs for the pharmacy, medical and nursing staff on pharmaceutical care and drug therapy.

 

Trains and assesses clinical competency of pharmacy personnel and direct oversight of daily activities.

 

Publishes a newsletter for physicians, pharmacy, and other health professionals.

 

Oversees the preparation of drug reviews, MUE criteria, antibiotic sensitivity data, adverse drug reactions, and medication error reporting.

 

Serves on Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other related committees.

 

Precepts pharmacy students

 

Assist in preparation and implementation of facility policy and procedures as needed

 

Manage, plan, organize and evaluate the staff and activities of clinical pharmacy services.

 

Assist the Director of Pharmacy with the development of new and maintenance of existing clinical pharmacy programs

 

Provides Project Management and appropriate delegation of responsibility for effective daily clinical pharmacy operations.

 

Ensures proper fiscal management of Pharmacy Budgeting goals and technology initiatives.

 

Actively participates in meetings and conferences relative to Medication Management, Patient Safety and Pharmacy support services.

 

Writes and conducts performance reviews in an effective and timely manner, with consideration for career ladders and growth.

 

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

What We're Looking For

  • Education:   Doctorate degree from an accredited ACPE College of Pharmacy - Required
  • Work Experience:  Completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency - Required
  • PGY-1 Required       PGY-2 ( preferred)
  • Licensure/Certifications:  NJ Pharmacist license (required)
